Corporate Finance Solicitor in York

Based in York. Travel to our other offices will be required.

Lupton Fawcett is a well-established integrated corporate and commercial law firm with offices in Leeds, Sheffield and York. The Corporate Finance department is spread across all three offices and has an enviable reputation for the quality of its work and its client.  Our York corporate team acts for many leading businesses and individuals in the region and undertakes both UK and cross-border transactions.  We are seeking to strengthen and expand our team by the appointment of additional high quality staff.  We seek a solicitor with experience of up to 7 years PQE experience in corporate transactions to assist us with our growing workload in the York and North Yorkshire region.

The role will involve dealing with clients, attending meetings with other professionals, the drafting and negotiation of a wide range of corporate documents including share and asset purchase and sale agreements, shareholders agreements, articles of association and partnership/LLP constitutions, merger/demerger agreements, loan documentation and share options.  The workload is varied, interesting and of high quality.

We would expect you to be able to demonstrate a committed and commercial approach to your work in addition to having excellent technical skills and a solid grounding in corporate law.  A good knowledge of business and finance issues would also be desirable.  You should be motivated, flexible and enthusiastic.

Lupton Fawcett is the only corporate and commercial law firm with offices in Leeds, Sheffield and York which gives us a distinctive edge.  The corporate department is very agile and flexible and from time to time, you will spend periods in each of our offices when workloads and client needs deem it necessary.  This improves office integration and adds to the interest of the role.

We encourage our fee earners to work as part of a team and to assist in the growth of both the department and firm as a whole and to get involved in a range of marketing and business development initiatives.  We consequently also expect you to get out of the office and help market both the department and the firm.

You will be in regular contact with colleagues from other offices and disciplines within the firm. You should have the confidence and ability to communicate clearly and concisely at all levels, both in writing and verbally, and you should be willing to develop your presentation skills.

The department is relaxed and informal, but extremely professional. We put clients’ needs first, so you will need to have the ability to prioritise your workload and be able to work to, and meet deadlines, whilst having an excellent eye for detail and a concern for quality and accuracy.  You should also have the ability to develop relationships and it would be an advantage if you have experience of identifying and developing new opportunities. A bit of personality and a good sense of humour go a long way!

Ideal candidates will already be working in a law firm or have experience of working in the legal sector and will have experience of corporate and commercial legal work.

Salary is commensurate with experience and applications should be made in writing through the Company website, giving a brief summary of what you can bring to the role and the firm and attach an up to date cv.
