Personal Injury Legal Assistant

Based in Leeds. Travel to our other offices may occasionally be required.

Unlike many Personal Injury law firms, our clients are dealt with by an accessible, highly experienced personal injury lawyer right from the start, so they can be confident they’ve got the most professional support possible. We will guide them through to the successful conclusion of their claim in a friendly and professional way to ensure the right outcome for them.

Whether their claim was as a result of a road traffic accident, an accident at work, or just going about their normal daily business, if it was not their fault then we can help.

We are looking to recruit a PI Assistant to join our PI Team on a full time basis. . Your role will involve  assisting our 3 Team Leaders and the Team Supervisor in the management and running of a mixed case-load of Fast Track and Multi Track Personal Injury claims (mainly Employers’ Liability, Public and Occupiers’ Liability, RTAs and Accidents Abroad).  

Duties will include taking new claims calls from potential clients (for MOJ Portal as well as non Portal claims) and providing  funding information, completing  ‘risk assessment’ screens to send  to management for case assessment, quantum and liability research, drafting CNFs, proceedings,  instructions to counsel, preparing trial bundles and drafting other legal documents as and when required.

Other duties will be to  log incoming post, arrange medical examinations and progress matters by chasing insurers, medical experts/agency/GP/Hospitals.

Applicants should possess strong IT skills and be excellent communicators with a positive outlook and approach to their work. They should be responsible and self contained with the ability to use their initiative, but overall they should be motivated, flexible and decisive.

As the successful applicant will be in regular contact with colleagues from other areas within the Firm in addition to Clients so they should have the confidence and ability to communicate clearly and concisely at all levels, both in writing and verbally.

The department is relaxed and informal, but extremely professional and we put clients’ needs first, so you will need to have the ability to prioritise your workload and be able to work to and meet deadlines, whilst having an excellent eye for detail and a concern for quality and accuracy. 

Preference will be given to candidates who have had some experience of working within a Personal Injury Department and are degree educated.

Salary is negotiable based on experience.
