Over the years, many of the HR professionals who we advise have told us how much difficulty they have keeping up to date with changes to employment law. Whilst there are many publications, websites and seminars aimed at HR managers, it is often hard to see the wood for the trees. Deciding what to read and which seminars to attend can be a job in itself.

Lupton Fawcett therefore decided to introduce HR Network, a networking group with a difference, run by Lupton Fawcett for HR managers and other executives who spend a significant part of their time managing their organisation's HR function.

The dual philosophy behind HR Network is to keep HR managers updated with new developments on the legal front, whilst at the same time providing them with a support group of other HR managers with whom they can discuss best practice.

The membership fee to join the network, for 2012, is £310 plus VAT (the fee is on a sliding scale depending on when you join). In return, you will receive the following benefits:

  1. A detailed monthly bulletin dealing with a particular aspect of employment law.
  2. A quarterly meeting, held at our offices, at which our head of employment, Louise Connacher, will present a seminar on a specific area of employment law. Members will be given the opportunity over the year to suggest topics for seminars. The formal seminar will be followed by complimentary drinks and buffet at a nearby bar, giving members an opportunity to network and to pose awkward legal questions to Louise and her team!
  3. A discount of 10% on training services provided by our in-house team.
  4. A "welcome pack" containing a folder for storing the monthly bulletins.

In addition, any member who introduces a new member to HR Network from another organisation will be rewarded with a bottle of champagne.

We must emphasise that HR Network does not replace the Employment Express updates and seminars which we already provide to our clients free of charge. The purpose of HR Network is to go beyond our usual updating services and to look at issues more in depth, with the input of members.

The 2012 HR Network meetings will take place at our offices – 5th Floor, Lupton Fawcett, Yorkshire House, East Parade, Leeds, LS1 5BD and will start at 4:00pm with coffee, tea & registration, followed by a ‘hot topic’ presentation by Louise Connacher at 4.30pm finishing at 5.30pm with buffet and drinks afterwards at Henry’s.
