Training

Is your advertising legal?  Half day course

Module Leader: Ben Clay

Overview

This informative and interactive half-day session (which combines theory-based learning with a series of interactive group sessions) has been created for anyone regularly dealing with advertising and other marketing activities.  The aim is to provide an overview of the issues you will need to consider, comply with and avoid in order to ensure compliance with the various applicable legal requirements.

Module aims

This module aims to provide participants with:

  • an explanation of how advertising is regulated, and what the consequences of non-compliance could be;
  • an overview of many of the issues and pitfalls which may be relevant when preparing marketing materials;
  • examples to help visualise the issues at hand;
  • case studies to apply the learnings in engaging group discussions; and
  • the ability to use what they have learnt to avoid and mitigate risks when planning future marketing campaigns.

Learning outcomes

By the end of this module, participants will:

  • be aware of the framework within which advertising is regulated, and how a complaint could be made;
  • understand various rules and requirements applicable to their marketing;
  • be able to identify areas likely to require particular caution and know where to find further detail and guidance;
  • appreciate the potential consequences of non-compliance;
  • be better placed to ensure that their advertising and other marketing activity complies with all relevant laws; and
  • be able to mitigate the risks of damage to brands and reputations from marketing going wrong.
