Summary

Lupton Fawcett is a well-established integrated corporate and commercial law firm with offices in Leeds, Sheffield and York and we now seek an enthusiastic individual to work on a 2-month project developing our in-house intranet.

The ideal candidate is an individual who is prepared to takes a true ‘hands-on’ approach with strong knowledge of content management platforms including WordPress.  You should have the ability to translate our business needs into client-friendly functional programme that will enhance and promote our internal technology. Therefore experience of the WordPress platform is a must so you should have an expert knowledge of building plug ins using this.  Ideally you should be able to demonstrate previous development projects you have worked on either on a personal level or within business capacity.

Although working with the Firm’s Knowledge Manager who is currently overseeing this initiative, (with further collaboration with other departments when required), you should have the ability to contribute and drive this project.  The role will involve developing and implementing a usability testing process to insure that new applications and design meet our Firm’s requirements.  You should be able to work independently but also in a team environment as you’ll be responsible for taking on the full life cycle of development.

The role requires you to cover all aspects of a typical development role i.e. building the intranet from scratch and overseeing it until completion, to maintenance and improving existing functionality.  You’ll be expected to utilise your full skill set which will involve both the front and back end using the latest technologies.

You should be able to demonstrate the following experience:

  • Full stack WordPress experience (essential)
  • Strong understanding of UX and UI (essential)
  • PHP v5.x and above
  • MySQL / MariaDB
  • HTML5
  • CSS3
  • JavaScript
  • Bespoke functionality / themes / plugins / extensions
  • Query
  • WooCommerce inc REST API (not essential but maybe beneficial)
  • Bootstrap
  • Gravity Forms
  • Advanced Custom Fields

Experience developing and publishing a WordPress site on a Linux-based platform would be beneficial but not essential as the Firm’s internal IT team can support this.
