Jonathan Oxley, managing partner at Lupton Fawcett LLP, added: “We are delighted to be continuing our proud association with the Diocese of York. I’m sure Louise will be a credit to the offices of Diocesan and Provincial Registrar, bringing more than 25 years of experience as a solicitor to the role.”
The Diocesan Registrar deals with a wide range of legal matters that are part of the smooth running of the York Diocese. Work undertaken ranges from applications to carry out building works to churches, to issuing common marriage licences on behalf of the Archbishop and advising on ecclesiastical law. The Provincial Registrar advises the Archbishop on ecclesiastical law matters relating to the Northern Province of the Church of England, including the legal procedures for the appointment and consecration of Bishops.
