Katie Dawson is an associate in our charities and education teams and advises charities and not-for-profit organisations on a broad range of issues including, amongst other things, obtaining consents and orders from the Charity Commission, the registration of charities, collaborative working and joint ventures, governance reviews and amending constitutional documents, and complex trust issues.
Katie regularly advises Diocesan Boards of Finance and faith based charities on charity law and governance issues. Katie also advises Diocesan Boards of Education on ecclesiastical/educational trusts and has particular expertise advising on school closures and section 554 applications. Katie is a member of the Charity Law Association and the Ecclesiastical Law Society.
Katie has presented at a number of seminars including at the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP), The Yorkshire Charities Seminar and to Independent Schools.
Katie has taken a keen interest in the education sector having been an active member of the board of governors of a local school for 8 years.
Keeping fit and art are her other passions. She runs regularly and takes part in, among other things, The Great North Run, whilst in whatever time she can carve out for herself, she can be found in her art studio creating works of art, being a commissioned oil painter.
