Disputes - £7.5m negligence claim defeated
Paul Sykes led a team from the outset in defeating a complex £7.5 million negligence claim against solicitors. This involved a long history of 5.5 acres of prime development land, Local Authority planning disputes, Judicial Review and alleged misconduct of High Court litigation by the client. This extended to appeals to the Court of Appeal. Unusual professional indemnity insurance aspects were involved. The Claimants’ solicitors acted under a “No Win / No Fee” Conditional Fee Agreement. Very substantial documentation was involved (350+ Lever arch files and 3+ Mgb of data). We achieved vindication for the client, including orders for costs against the Claimants along the way.
