Domus Expansion Continues with Calderdale Acquisition

A Yorkshire-based home care services business has made its second acquisition in three months.

The Domus Healthcare Group, which bought TLC Homecare Services (Yorkshire) Ltd, based in Skelmanthorpe, Huddersfield, in November has now bought family-owned Clear Care Agency in Mytholmroyd, Hebden Bridge for an undisclosed sum.

The acquisition continues to expand the Domus Group's coverage across Yorkshire and the North West, taking the team from 300 to 320 staff providing 6,150 hours of care each week for people in their homes across Yorkshire and the North West.

The Domus team helps people manage their daily routine in the comfort of their own home - from washing, dressing, bathing and showering to cooking, cleaning, helping with medication and caring for pets. Every customer has a bespoke care package tailored to their specific needs, delivered by highly trained and skilled staff.

Clear Care employs 20 staff and works with Calderdale Social Services and private clients throughout Calderdale. Previously owned by Kathleen Johnson who is retiring to spend more time with her husband, the company will be managed on a day to day basis by her daughter Angelina Johnson as Business Manager. The business will be rebranded Domus Healthcare (Calderdale) Ltd with immediate effect

Managing director Andrea Jetten says the buyout forms part of the group's ongoing growth strategy; partnering with like-minded organisations committed to delivering the highest standard of care to help people maintain independence in their own home:

"Our priority is to introduce new IT systems to assist the Clear Care team with rotas, payroll and invoicing, to further develop the already excellent training and development for the staff, and to recruit new care staff to join the team and to provide new and innovative services to people within the local area."

Commenting on the Group's growth strategy, Andrea said: "Our aim is to deliver exceptional personal and domestic care in the home and we're always keen to talk to other organisations that share our approach and values, and further acquisitions are in the pipeline."

Domus was formed in early 2008 and has grown through the buyout of Hessle firm Advanced Care in summer 2008, followed by the acquisition of Oldham-based Helpful Hands in May 2009, and the acquisition of TLC Homecare Services (Yorkshire) Ltd, based in Skelmanthorpe, Huddersfield, in November 2009.

Domus has been advised on all four acquisitions by Marcus Armstrong, Corporate Finance Director at Lupton Fawcett in Leeds. Marcus commented on the deal: "Domus is a forward thinking organisation whose strategic acquisition strategy is helping it to become a leading player in the industry"
