Lupton Fawcett provides much needed help for refugee crisis
The staff at Lupton Fawcett have rallied together and organised a ‘bring all you can’ event to aid the refugees in Piraeus.
Clothing, footwear, tents, bedding, kitchen items, toiletries and toys/books for the children were all donated from all three of the firm’s offices. A staggering 60 plus bags were collected and placed at collection points in York.
The items are being shipped to both Greece and Syria in two separate containers organised by Alex Thornton from Windcare Ltd. Alex and his brother will then travel out to various locations to assist the front line charities in distributing all donations. Alex is doing this in conjunction with both the British Red Cross and Medecins sans Frontieres.
Niamh Batterton, a construction solicitor from Lupton Fawcett comments “I offered to assist Alex in coordinating these much needed essentials for those who are most needy, as it’s the least I could do. I am very pleased that this has meant as much to our staff as it has done to me. I would like to think that others would be as sympathetic and empathetic as our staff have been if our families and friends were in a similar position. The migrant needs are imminent and continue to grow. I hope that our offering can, in some small way, make life a little more bearable for those that need it”.
