Lupton Fawcett’s expertise recognised within its Sheffield office by the Legal 500

Lupton Fawcett has, once again, been highly praised by the Legal 500 for the expertise of individuals and teams within its Sheffield office.

It also leads the way in the city for its range of advice, having been listed in 21 different categories of legal expertise.

Michele Phillips, the team’s head, has been singled out as a ‘leading individual’. According to the guide, she ‘stands out for finance work and always looks for the unexpected and manages these issues easily’.

The Corporate and Commercial department is described by the guide as ‘a first port of call’ and is ‘one of the best mid-sized firms in the city with guidance that is always framed in a manner that is easily understandable and highlights the team’s professionalism and ability to trust’.

Neil Large, who has advised on a number of high profile deals nationally, is also described as ‘extremely pragmatic’.

The Sheffield office is particularly proud of being recognised for its Dispute Resolution, which is included in the guide for the first time. Key names mentioned are Rob Cooke and Simon Lockley, the latter being described as one who ‘listens carefully, formulates a highly practical plan and executes it in an outstandingly professional manner’.

According to the Guide, the Insolvency and Corporate Recovery department, under the direction of David Smyllie, has ‘a fast, responsive and knowledgeable team which goes the extra mile to achieve the client’s goals and is recognised for its experience in handling distressed or insolvent legal practices and large property portfolios of insolvent property groups’.

The Private Client team is also highlighted for the way ‘complex technical aspects are brilliantly mastered.’

In addition, the employment team is recognised for its ‘timely pragmatic support and excellent value for money’, with Joan Pettingill being recommended ‘particularly for her expertise in the care sector’.

Commenting on this year’s Legal 500 listings, Michele Phillips, said,

“We have an exceptionally strong team operating within our Sheffield office and we are proud of the recognition it continues to receive each year.

“Having this ability means we have become ‘a first port of call’, as the guide puts it, within Sheffield and South Yorkshire, for those requiring legal advice on both commercial and personal issues.”

Jonathan Oxley, Lupton Fawcett’s managing partner, added,

“What makes us stand out from other firms in the city is the fact we are able to offer top quality advice across almost every aspect of commercial and family law. Furthermore, the highly experienced lawyers operating in Sheffield have the opportunity, if necessary, to draw on additional expertise within our Leeds and York offices.”
