The Charities and Social Enterprise group, which is led by Mark Honeywell, attracts a commendation for its ‘fast response times and excellent value for money, as does the ‘strong’ Education team, also headed by Mark, which is listed for its particular expertise acting for academies and schools.

Lupton Fawcett’s particular strength in handling fraud cases, Proceeds of Crime Act matters and those concerning cash forfeiture is also included, with York’s Jonathan Cripwell as a name to note.

The Private client team receives high praise and has the ‘complex technical aspects brilliantly mastered’. The team also attracted praise for its ‘common sense and commercial reality’.

Names to note for commercial litigation include Jonathan Cripwell and Johanne Spittle

The multi-award winning employment team, again the highest ranked in York and North Yorkshire is recognised for its ‘timely pragmatic support and excellent value for money’.

In addition, the Ecclesiastical Law department, led by Caroline Mockford, is noted for ‘its significant strength’

Commenting on this year’s Legal 500 listings, Martin Frost, noted for his handling of cross-border and M&A work, says “We have an exceptionally strong team operating within our York office and we are proud of the recognition it continues to receive each year.

“Having this ability means we continue to attract clients from York, North Yorkshire and the rest of the UK who require legal advice on both commercial and personal issues.”

Jonathan Oxley, Lupton Fawcett’s managing partner, added,

“What makes us stand out from other firms in the city is the fact we are able to offer top quality advice across almost every aspect of commercial and family law. Furthermore, the highly experienced lawyers operating in York have the opportunity, if necessary, to draw on additional expertise within our Leeds and Sheffield offices.”
