English sporting superstar and 2003 Rugby World Cup winner, Jason Robinson OBE, was the guest of honour at Lupton Fawcett’s golf day at Rudding Park on Thursday 17 May. The man known as “Billy Whizz” helped Lupton Fawcett raise over £1000 for the children’s cancer charity, Candlelighters.

The golf day formed part of ‘Just One Day’, an annual event where local communities, businesses and organisations are encouraged to come together to raise awareness and support fundraising for the Lord Mayor’s chosen charity, which this year is Candlelighters.

Sixteen teams of four took part on a glorious day, with the Royal Bank of Scotland’s team consisting of Nick Bell, Stephen Foster, Ian Hart and Mark Heyes, aptly named ‘Belly’s bandits’, claiming the trophy, which was presented to the winners by Jason Robinson .

Speaking about the day, managing partner of Lupton Fawcett, Jonathan Oxley, said,

“We had a glorious day made all the more special by the fact we were able to raise a significant amount of money for such a worthwhile cause. It was great that so many friends of the firm from the local corporate community were happy to enter teams and support the event.

“It was a bonus to have one of the greatest rugby players, of both codes, playing with us too. Not only was it great for everyone to meet Jason, he also helped us raise even more money for a very worthwhile cause,” he said.
