Industrial Accident Claims & Industrial Injury Lawyers

Industrial injuries in the workplace are generally suffered in a manufacturing, warehousing or factory environment. These injuries can be many and varied and can leave employees with life changing injuries and mental scars.

Some of the main causes of industrial accidents are:

  • Manual handling
  • Exposure to dangerous chemicals and substances
  • Faulty or unsafe machinery
  • Lack of safety equipment such as harnesses
  • A fall from a height
  • Trip, slips and falls
  • Electric shocks

Many injuries in this type of workplace tend to happen when appropriate safety measures are not taken or adhered to, or those procedures are insufficient in the first place.

  • Poorly maintained machinery and inferior assembly of structures such as shelving, racking, scaffolding and gantries are also the main culprits when it comes to industrial accident claims.

  • Likewise, forklift truck accidents are a common workplace accident and can of course be quite serious.

  • Spillages and lack of adequate walkways and thoroughfares also result in many injuries at work.
  • Exposure to hazardous chemicals and substances can be devasting to your health and your ability to work even though they don’t occur instantly as in the case of an accident.

Health and safety responsibilities of your employer

Your employer must follow strict health and safety procedures as well as exercise their duty of care towards employees in the workplace.

Our investigations often reveal that accidents can frequently be caused by improper practices, poor safety procedures, inadequate training or even as a result of employers cutting corners. You may even have felt under pressure from management to deliver on a project in a manner which is unsafe.

Industrial accident case study

Loss of a finger using a band saw at an abattoir.

We acted for a Claimant who was working as a band saw operative at an abattoir when his dominant left hand came into contact with the blade causing a severe laceration of the middle finger. His injury led to multiple operations and eventual amputation of the finger. Liability was settled on an 80/20 basis in the Claimant’s favour.

The Claimant was limited in respect of future employment prospects and the claim settled after issue and before trial for £75,000.

Death caused by an industrial accident

As difficult a subject this is to discuss, if you are a relation of someone who has died as part of an industrial accident, then please do get in touch.

You may have been left in an uncomfortable financial position or you may simply want to seek justice for an industrial accident that happened to a loved one. If this is the case, we are extremely sensitive to this issue and we can guide you through the process from start to finish.

What damages could I receive?

Compensation amounts for industrial accidents vary widely but will largely depend on the severity of the injury, the nature of the accident and the level of employer negligence.

  • We can successfully claim for
  • Loss of income caused by time off work
  • Future losses due to your ability to work in the future
  • Travel expenses
  • Care or support needed during recovery and rehabilitation

Let’s not forget that you will inevitably suffer from some psychological scaring which can affect your mental health and have long term and even life-changing effects.
