Charities Act 2022

Charities Act Update

Further to my article summarising some of the key features of the Charities Bill 2021 last July, (Charities Bill 2021) the Bill has finished its journey through parliament and entered the statute books as a fully- fledged Act of Parliament on 24 February 2022.

That said, the implementation of the provisions of the Charities Act 2022 (except for section 41 – extent, commencement and short title) will be in stages, whose timescale will be agreed with the Charity Commission, aiming to have all provisions effective by Autumn 2023.   A timetable for implementation is expected to be published so that charity trustees and their advisors can plan and prepare for the changes.

For now, it is business as usual.
