Types of burn
Injuries resulting in a burn can be caused in almost any environment, whether it’s at your workplace, at a restaurant, on holiday or while driving. A burn is usually caused by exposure to fire or an incredibly hot object or liquid, but can also be caused by electricity, radiation, friction or a chemical.
They are usually split up into three categories, depending on the severity of your burn, including:
- First degree – redness to the skin, minor pain, no blistering or scarring
- Second degree – affects deeper layers of skin, severe pain, blistering and chance of scarring
- Third degree – burns away the skin, damages muscles, leaves scars
If you have been burnt as a result of another person’s negligence, you should get in touch with Lupton Fawcett to find out whether you can make a claim for compensation.
