James Richardson is a Member and Managing Partner of Lupton Fawcett LLP
James became the firm’s Managing Partner in April 2020. As well as managing the firm, James is a well-known and respected lawyer with over 30 years’ experience in advising individuals, directors, banks, asset based lenders, insolvency practitioners and accountants in all aspects of personal and corporate insolvency. He joined the firm as a Director in October 2012 following the merger of Lupton Fawcett and Lee & Priestley.
James advises distressed businesses, whether it be through formal insolvency procedures or through developing more pragmatic restructuring led solutions maximising returns for all interested stakeholders.
Recent assignments have included work across a wide range of industry sectors such as glass manufacturing, electrical contracting, financial services, printing and healthcare services. This has included acting for both management in buying out insolvent businesses and insolvency practitioners in selling them. James’ experience covers both contentious and non-contentious, and he specialises in advising insolvency practitioners in relation to antecedent property transactions.
James is a member of R3, The Insolvency Lawyers Association and the Law Society.
James is married to Cathy and enjoys travelling, skiing, playing the guitar, a little bit of cycling, cooking, and has recently taken up making his own charcuterie!
