New course prepares Lupton Fawcett lawyers for leadership

Four solicitors at Lupton Fawcett have completed a year-long leadership course designed to equip them with the skills to maximise their impact in the workplace.

Charlene Vilia, Richard Buckley, Claire Moss and Meghan Waldron are the first employees to take part in the newly-developed course.

The course, led by experienced leadership coach Sue Bilton from Ark Associates, encompasses topics including persuading and influencing, performance management, delegating and motivating and leadership during organisational change.

Lupton Fawcett’s managing partner, James Richardson, said: “We’re committed to providing opportunities for our people to enhance their skills and achieve progression, both for their own personal development and to ensure the ongoing success of the firm.

“We selected the first participants for the course based not just on their legal skills and expertise but also because they exemplify our firm’s core values in their day-to-day work.”

Charlene Vilia is a senior associate solicitor based at Lupton Fawcett’s Sheffield office, providing legal services including estate planning, Wills, Powers of Attorney, estate administration and trust management to private clients.

Commenting on the course, she said: “I’ve very much enjoyed the chance to develop my leadership and management skills, and to be able to learn alongside like-minded peers has been a great experience.

“Working in a fast-paced legal environment means there are always lots of demands on your day but what I’ve learnt over the past year has been invaluable and I am grateful to the firm for investing the time in my development.”

James concluded: “My congratulations go to Charlene, Richard, Claire and Meghan on completing the course.

“They are already leaders by example, continually looking for better ways to serve our clients and bringing positive energy to the workplace. I’m sure whatever they each take from the course will enable them to have an even greater impact in the future.”
