Jonathan is a Partner at Lupton Fawcett having undertaken Articles in Leeds and qualifying as a Solicitor in 1989, joining Denison Till in York. Jonathan was managing partner of Denison Till and led the successful merger of the firm with Lupton Fawcett LLP in 2013 and is head of the York office. Recognised in the Legal 500 as a litigator, Jonathan has over 30 years’ experience in the dispute resolution field.
Jonathan has acted in a wide range of both commercial and private client litigation acquiring considerable practical experience which, combined with a commercial approach, has demonstrated a proven track record of successfully litigated and mediated cases. Jonathan’s civil practice includes complex contractual disputes, professional negligence, civil fraud, shareholder & partnership litigation, breach of trust, contentious probate and Inheritance Act claims.
In addition to his civil practice, Jonathan has extensive experience in many aspects of regulatory enforcement and criminal prosecutions with an emphasis on health & safety, financial crime including fraud and bribery (with experience in cross-jurisdictional criminal proceedings in Europe) and Data Protection compliance, helping companies and business owners through complex legislation, compliance issues with Regulators and in the risk management process from investigation to prosecution.
